Commissioner of Police Paul Rolle presents opening remarks at 2021 Domestic Violence Seminar

On Tuesday 2nd, February 2021 Police Commissioner Paul Rolle Esq, delivered opening remarks at the three day Domestic Violence Seminar presented by the Royal Bahamas Police Force Training College at Bahamas Harvest Church Auditorium.

Commissioner Rolle began by defining Domestic Violence / Intimate Partner Abuse in accordance to the United Nations as: A pattern of behavior in any relationship used to gain or maintain power or control over an intimate partner. Further abuse can be physical, sexual, emotional, economic or psychological or threats of actions to influence another person. This includes any behavior which frightens, intimidates, terrorizes, manipulates, hurts, humiliates, blames, injures or wounds someone. He pointed out that Domestic Violence is not prejudice to age, religion, race, gender or sexual orientation. He stated that Domestic Violence can occur within a wide scope of relationships, marriages, couples dating and also family members. He affirmed, our role as a law enforcement organization is to provide efficient, professional and confidential service. To protect all victims of Domestic Violence. Priority Four of the Commissioner's Policing Plan speaks directly to "Protecting Person's at Risk" and outlines the organizations strategy to address all forms of Domestic Violence and Gender Based Violence.
